In the entire power system, substation is the hub of power transmission which bears the transmission of electric energy and distribution of task. In order to make substation play a more fully strong role in the safe and reliable operation of the grid, into which Substation Automation System SAS, an IED and other high-tech means have been introduced. However, as the complexity of network structure, information capacity expansion, and real-time information increasing, Intelligent substation exposed problems also increase. It is a fast, safe and open communication network and sound communication network and system standard, can provide a strong guarantee for SAS. Thus, on the basis of IEC61850 international standard, researching on the real-time and information security in substation communication network, has some theoretical and practical value.Firstly, starting from the IEC61850 standard, analysis overall framework, logical networking and actual topology of the smart substation in-depth, compared two networking modes, three basic network topology, all that provide a reference to the actual network’s future selection. D2-1 substation as the main study object. According to the actual data transmission, to achieve efficient allocation of the exact business model. Then combined with the corresponding topology modeling, device modeling and link modeling, to establish its simulation model in the OPNET. The main contents include the following four areas:(1) Comparing modeling and simulation study based on different topologies communications network;(2)Take Feeder1 Interval for example, comparing modeling and simulation study based on node devices respectively used SCSM simplified protocol model and the OSI traditional model;(3)Using the control variable method, within the Feeder1 Interval analysis factors affecting packet transmission delay uncertainty;(4)In consideration of the real-time basis, through comparative study, drawn optimal strategy to solve substation communication network information security—VLAN. And applied the VLAN classification scheme to different scale substation, in the presence of VLAN settings and no VLAN settings scenarios, compared the two statistical variables, which are Forwarding data rate of central switch and Ethernet delay, to verify VLAN technology can effectively balance both the real-time data transmission and safety.
