With the rapid growth of power demand, the scale of power grid is constantly enlarging. It puts forward higher requirements for the security and stability of power system, especially the substation which is the hub of power system has even stricter standards. In recent years,the application and development of substation automation system has played an important role in ensuring the reliability of grid. But there still exist some drawbacks such as secondary wiring complexity in substation automation system. The automation function's independent construction leads to a lower degree of integration and coordination,which deeply reduces the efficiency of automatic equipment. These problems are mainly based on the fact that the overall coordination of substation digitization degree is not high as well as a lack of substation communication standards which can realize information standardization and interoperability between devices from different manufactures. This paper conduct Research on Substation Communication Simulation Based on IEC61850, the specific work is as follows:1. The basic content of IEC61850 standard and substation communication protocols are described in detail. Moreover, the hierarchical structure of integrated substation automation system and its main function are also formulated. The technical characteristics of the IEC61850 standard are analyzed and studied.2. The performance requirements of substation communication network are summarized to analyze the characteristics of substation networkstructure in depth based on IEC61850 standard through two different aspects including independent process network architecture and unified network structure of total station. The real-time performance of digital substation communication network is studied. This paper has proposed corresponding real-time performance improvement measures aiming at the influencing factors of substation communication network.3. This paper has analyzed the data flow of digital substation and established the mathematical model for the three common data types.According to the requirement of substation real-time message index, a network simulation model based on D2 substation as object topology structure is built. The test results show that the 10 M bandwidth link can meet the real-time requirements of substation communication network, and the length of the message, the time of sending interval as well as the CPU utilization rate of the equipment will affect the real-time performance of the communication network.4. We have also analyzed the reliability of the communication network of digital substation, and established the reliability evaluation index and put forward various improvement strategies to improve the reliability.According to the simulation results, in the initial period of system operation, it would appear the cases such as network packet losses and data link instability. If the link load does not occur suddenly increased on the situation, the communication system will be stable after running a certain period of time.Through the research of this paper, we can conclude that different link bandwidth, substation monitoring CPU utilization rate and data transmission time interval will affect the end to end delay of node data transmission process, which has a certain reference significance for the transmission network configuration of digital substation. In order to enhance the reliability of digital substation communication network, we need to improve the performance of communication link as well as avoidphysical signals and data link errors. Meanwhile, the maximum load of communication network should not exceed 60% of network bandwidth.
