Intelligent ammeter is the outstanding feature of the smart grid technology, and has a considerable effect on smart grid towards automation, intelligent, environmental protection and economy absolutely. Intelligent ammeters currently used are generally divided into two categories, and the first intelligent ammeters are recharged by IC card, when the card is running low, electricity customers must take the IC card to purchase electricity, if meet with the circumstance of local electricity sector break or others, users will not be timely electricity. The second type of intelligent ammeter is recharged by Wireless Network. When the Wireless Network interruption occurs, electricity customers will be unable to recharge in distress. In order to solve above problems, through research and analysis, this thesis combines the functions of these two intelligent ammeters, so that the users can query power and charge by Wireless Network, also charge by IC card in the absence of network. The new intelligent ammeter can not only solve the electricity problem in a timely manner, but also bring convenience to the electricity sector.This thesis focuses on IC card intelligent ammeter hardware circuit design. Construction of this intelligent ammeter is AT89C51 chip as micro control unit, plus a short distance communications RF IC card, part of the monitoring and control unit, the serial data bus interface and so on. The hardware circuit system design of smart meters hardware is mainly divided into the IC card system circuit, measurement circuit, watchdog circuit, power control circuit, display circuit, clock circuit, keyboard circuit and communication circuit.The flowing is the flow of circuit system design:First, starting with the Straightforward definition of smart meter, this thesis makes a simple overview, undertakes to introduce the smart meters’ principle and construction, analyzes of the structure of electricity meters, lists the advantages highlighting from general electric meter, introduces the present development situation and future trend of smart meters, and illustrates the reason for devising this system.Secondly, this thesis designs the system framework and details description of the system function. The overall framework is divided into three parts: IC card intelligent ammeter section, data acquisition and transmission section, network terminal part.Thirdly, this thesis proposes the design framework of hardware of IC card intelligent ammeter and describes the major components in detail.Finally, this thesis details design each hardware circuit of IC card intelligent ammeter, including IC card system circuit, measurement circuit, watchdog circuit, power control circuit, display circuit, clock circuit, keyboard circuit and communication circuit.
