Bus rollover is a dangerous accident that often caused a lot of casualties, It’s necessary to improve the capability of anti-rollover to reduce the accident rate of bus rollover. Rollover prediction and control system can monitor the real-time dynamic rollover indicator and provide active control to prevent the vehicle rollover. A traditional rollover index can detect only untripped rollovers that happen due to high lateral acceleration from sharp turns, it cannot detect tripped rollovers that happen due to tripping from external inputs such as forces when a vehicle strikes a curb or a road bump, especially the study for tripped rollover of large passengers is still in its infancy. Therefore it’s necessary to design a tripped rollover warning and control system for passenger cars.Based on the detailed analysis of the current situation on the research of bus rollover at home and abroad, the paper proposes a rollover prediction algorithm that can simultaneously predict untripped and tripped rollovers, designs an integrated control strategy composed by differential braking and active front steering, the validity of the algorithm is verified by simulation and experiment.The main work completed includes:1. Rollover warning and control system research status are discussed and analyzed.2. Bus rollover mechanism is analyzed, 5DOF bus system dynamics model is established and emulated.3. Rollover index estimation algorithm is designed and emulated by Truck Sim and Simulink4. Differential braking and active front steering integrated control strategy is designed and validated by Truck Sim and Simulink.5. Experimental platform used to verify the rollover prediction and prevention algorithm is set up.6. Experiment is set up and the results are analyzed to verify the effectiveness of the system.
