The train working diagram of the modern trams is a comprehensive plan for transportation work, as well as the tool which coordinate rail transportation departments and units to work, vehicle turn-round diagram is the basis for vehicle department to organize transportation and production work, and an important part of vehicle use plan. The train working diagram and vehicle turn-round diagram are interdependent, at the same time the foundation documents of daily traffic. The quality of both the establishment has a very critical impact on the safety of train and improving the efficiency of the entire transportation.This paper studies research status in practical and theoretical aspects both at home and abroad. For some of the problems existing in the computer map compilation, this paper presents the main research papers, research ideas and research difficulties.Establishing the train working diagram for modern trams, this paper firstly analyzes the features, elements, principles, procedures and so on. secondly, gives the principles, processes and methods of vehicle turn-round diagram especially analyzes several key problems such as vehicle turn-round mode, the vehicle maintenance plan, vehicle use plan and so on. All of the theoretical foundation for the calculation of timetable and the establishment of vehicle turn-round model.Considering the conventional mathematical algorithms are unable to solve the mathematical model of the vehicle turn-round, Based on the running characteristics of the modern trams and the experience of artificial cartography, this paper decides to use the ant colony algorithm to solve this problem. At the same time, the paper introduces its concept, advantages and classification, which laid the theoretical foundation and technical support for the examples.Calculating the timetable of the train working diagram is a core issue. Firstly, the paper gives a brief analysis on factors of timetable, then calculates the arrival, departure time of intermediate station to reach the goal, lastly, uses the sequence in reverse order to push the point and push-point method to give the process of timetable calculation.The mathematical model of the vehicle turn-round is based on sketching the vehicle turn-round, however, sketching the vehicle turn-round is the substance of vehicle turn-round diagram’s establishment. Combining the train operation plan, considering the factors that vehicle’s turning-back process at turning-back station, the paper establishes the model which reach to minimize the total residence time at turning-back station, and design ant colony algorithm which is based on the experience of artificial cartography to solve this problem. The algorithm consists of two steps, first, whether the current train is out or into the vehicle garage, second, if it is, then determining a reasonable continuation train.Then, take the preliminary design data of one modern tram line in Nanjing Kirin Technology Park as an example, verify the accuracy and effectiveness of the algorithm, the model and the timetable of the design. Based on the model and algorithms, combined with object-oriented design and database technology, learning from the experience of railway and urban rail transit scheduling system, the paper develops a modern trams operators dispatching system, the system focus on automatically generating timetable, the plan of train working diagram and vehicle turn-round diagram, the auxiliary function can draw actual train lines, query history record, generate statistical reports. System, especially designs interface panel, train lines, drawing train lines. Each module of system is running well, and the system can manually modify the plan based on actual demand, show powerful computer interaction capabilities.In order to make the re-emergence of the modern trams technology, and gradually move toward the goal of “intelligent, integration”, establishing dispatching management operations center which is centralized, monitoring, controllable, actionable is extremely important. The research and development of the modern trams operators dispatching system not only improves the vehicles turnover, but also improve the management level and operational capability of operations, and it also promotes the intelligent scheduling, automation development of the urban rail transit systems, at the same time provide some reference for China’s urban transit system.
