Locomotive working diagram is a locomotive scheduling, which is an important part of the railway transportation plan. The locomotive working diagram problem, which also can be also called locomotive scheduling, is determined according to locomotive routing, locomotive running mode, crew working routing, crew working mode, locomotive maintenance time of turn-around station, is the basis of the activities of transportation and production. Preparation of locomotive scheduling is a very complex process, all the factors requiring to be considered to optimize locomotive operation efficiency, economic, maintaince scheduling and crew scheduling, in these objective, it is the most important target that accelerating the locomotive turnaround efficiency. In addition, the formulating process of locomotive scheduling should be coordinated with train working diagram, considering the constraint and objective as a whole, which can make the railway traffic to be more stabilizing, orderly and safety, then improving the transport operation productivity and benefiting railway income.Locomotive scheduling problem is to assign power to all the trains on the train working diagram with the fewest resources. For locomotive scheduling problem mathematic mode, more variables included, and the constraint relation between variables is complicated, so it is a kind of complicated special assignment problem, which it’s too difficult to be solved. In practical work, it is mainly through the development of locomotive scheduling system for concrete establishment. Design of locomotive scheduling planning system, providing planning and adjustment measures, and design of locomotive scheduling and train working diagram coordination mechanisms will help improve the preparation quality system efficiency. Based on studying the existing locomotive scheduling and locomotive scheduling system, this paper mainly studies the locomotive scheduling model and algorithm, locomotive scheduling and train working diagram coordination mechanisms method, locomotive scheduling system design and other aspects. The main contents are as following.1. By analyzing locomotive routing connection of locomotive working diagram, one characteristic was concluded:For each locomotive turn-around station, the feasible solution of locomotive routing connection can be converted to one of sequential-connecting solutions determinate by the first connection, and at the same time, the total locomotive turn-around time didn’t changed. And then theoretically proved that the locomotive scheduling has the characteristic of sequential connection mentioned above.2. For the single type locomotive scheduling problem, a mathematical model is established, then, the problem was divided into two sub problems:paired locomotive scheduling problem and unpaired locomotive scheduling problems, corresponding algorithm was designed respectively to find the solution. When solving paired locomotive scheduling problem, by acquiring dense receiving-departure points, it can find the solution fast according to the locomotive sequential-connecting method. When solving the unpaired locomotive scheduling, by using locomotive sequential connecting characteristic, deadhauling locomotives was set, then locomotive deadhauling problems are converted into matching problem of trains that deadhauling locomotives pre-assigned or being assigned. Based on this, locomotive deadhauling plan was formed, and finally the unpaired locomotive scheduling problem was changed into paired locomotive scheduling problem to be solved.3. For the multi-type locomotive scheduling problem, the characteristics of the problem was described, then the locomotive operation benefit was set as the objective function, and a three-dimensional assignment mathematic model for the turn-around station was established which including of the arrival trains, the departure trains and the locomotive types. During the solving process, an algorithm based on the fixed locomotive sets was design, then the heuristic algorithm based on exchanging locomotive routing connection was used, and realize the optimization of the locomotive routing train groups. Finally locomotive type assignment and locomotive turn-around time were optimized integrally, and get the locomotive operation cost minimized.4. On the basis of cost optimized model and algorithm for multi-type locomotive scheduling problem, multi-type locomotive scheduling problem under the condition of given numbers of locomotives of some locomotive type was studied. During the solving process, first, a single-type locomotive scheduling of given number locomotive type was formulated, then, with the locomotive routing connection exchanging and grouping differentiation to realize the rational use of given number locomotives and improve the efficiency of the locomotive operation.5. Analyzing the content of locomotive scheduling and train working diagram and coordination methods during the preparation process, and discussing locomotive scheduling and train working diagram coordination methods. In the train operation planning stage, it coordinates the locomotive connection between the turnaround stations by designing the feedback adjustment method on the basis of balancing the distribution points; in the train working diagram stage, it proposes train working diagram feedback adjustment plan based on the locomotive optimization method on the basis of the locomotive scheduling algorithm for compact routing conditions as the foundation.6. On the basis of demand analysis of locomotive scheduling business, it has carried on the design of locomotive scheduling planning system, including the system function structure design, data design, user interface design, etc. Combined with the coordination requirements of the locomotive scheduling and train working diagram business, it carries out the collaborative design for the locomotive scheduling system and train working diagram system.Locomotive is the traction power of train, and the quality of locomotive plan is an important guarantee for train operation order and transportation safety. This paper on locomotive scheduling planning theory research and system design covers the existing main content of the work. This paper presenting locomotive sequentially continuous features and a single model, multiple models locomotive scheduling optimization method provides a theoretical basis for locomotive scheduling; this paper presenting locomotive scheduling and train working diagram coordination methods and locomotive scheduling system design methods will help to improve the efficiency and the quality of the preparation of locomotive scheduling and train working diagram, and to improve the level of rail transport plan preparation. So the research of this paper has a certain theoretical and practical significance for China’s railway locomotive operation and management.
