Analysis Of The Space Features Of Settlement Of Diantou Ancient Village In The City Of Taiyuan

Traditional settlements are important historical and cultural heritages of China and even the world. Due to the difference in their historical and geographical environments, their space presents regional characteristic. However, with the increasing improvement of the society and degree of urbanization, these traditional settlements which carry important historical cultural information are facing unprecedented crisis and the space of settlement is gradually disappearing. Therefore, this topic emphasizes the study on the aspect.As the only historical cultural Chinese village of Taiyuan City at present, the research value of Diantou Village is evident. Its settlement space and architectural space of layered-floor-type stone-built cave dwellings are one of the most important figures. Both overall settlement space characteristics and space characteristics of architecture and cave dwellings show the characteristics of military and business settlement of Diantou Village. However, since the village has a long history and has been abandoned for several years, some stone-built cave dwellings have gone to ruin and disappeared. The important historical information such as village and construction space is facing the danger of disappearance. Having aimed at the situation, this topic makes a detailed analysis of space characteristics of Diantou Village to provide important basis for protection and development of Diantou Village by the method of access to historical materials, investigation and classification&conclusion.This paper is divided into five chapters:Chapter1expounds the background of topic study, study objective and meaning, progress and achievements of related domestic and overseas study and study content and method of topic, and makes the direction of topic study clear.Chapter2makes an analysis of overall village space characteristics of Diantou Village, including the conclusion of general information of Diantou Village such as historical development, natural geographical environment, human cultural environment and so on, the analysis of intention of site selection and overall arrangement forms of Diantou Village and finally the conclusion and analysis of natural and man-made environment elements of "point","line" and "surface" in Diantou Village.Chapter3classifies, concludes and illustrates courtyard space characteristics of Diantou Village on the basis of investigation and classified statistics with list, including the classification and conclusion of space characteristics of courtyard and further analysis of level and vertical compound modes of different courtyard space. And the level compound mode of courtyard space is divided into horizontal and depth compound modes.Chapter4classifies, concludes and illustrates the architectural space characteristics of Diantou Village on the basis of investigation and statistics with list, including the classification study on unit of cave dwelling space and the classification and conclusion of level and vertical compound modes.
