As an emergency power system widely used in the world, the emergency dieselgenerators play an important role in ensuring a continuous supply of important facilities.Excitation control system, which is important for the safe and stable operation ofemergency diesel generators, is the main control unit of emergency diesel generators. So,it is necessary to select economic-effective testing means for the excitation system designverification and static and dynamic performance tests. Traditional industrial site test,dynamic simulation test and digital-analog hybrid experiments have some limitations, hasbeen difficult to meet the needs of modern excitation system testing. With thedevelopment of computer technology, parallel processing technology and power systemsimulation technology, the testing means of excitation system gradually develop toreal-time digital simulation. Real-time digital simulation technology, based onhigh-performance processor, can effectively complete static and dynamic excitationsystem experiments, which is important for theoretical studies and engineeringapplications.This paper presents the design of HIL (emergency diesel generators in loop)simulator, used for studying the dynamic performance of voltage, based on the study ofexcitation control system digital simulation technology, generate code of the controlledobject by MATLAB/Simulink automatic code technology. HIL simulator exchanges datain real time with the voltage regulator through simulation interface. By this method, weachieved the hardware in the loop simulation, which can test the performance of voltageregulator in that way of real-time digital simulation.Firstly, the paper has a detailed analysis of the mathematical model of emergencydiesel generators, and generates the model code based on MATLAB/Simulink platformautomatic code generation technology. A detailed analysis of the interface of the HIL(emergency diesel generators in loop) simulator, used for studying the dynamicperformance of voltage, and the technical conditions of real-time digital simulation isfollowed. In the detailed design, the paper analyzes the hardware circuits of the simulatorfirstly, including DSP system and its peripheral circuits, the expansion design of ADC&DAC circuits, coordinate system conversion circuit, power amplifier and signal isolationcircuit, and focus on the principle and design of the coordinate system conversion circuitbased on direct digital frequency synthesis (DDS) technology. Then the paper analyze theautomatic generation technology of DSP code, gives the AD9854initialization procedure, designed the interface of the HIL simulator. Finally, a summary of the issues proposed tobe improved system problems and prospects of the next work need to continue.
