The Pedestrian Space Study Of Old Regions In Guangzhou Under The Perspective Of Low-Carbon Urban Renewal As A Whole

In terms of urban planning, After Urban Renewal, Urban Redevelopment and Urban Renaissance, Low-Carbon Urban Renewal continues the development of material space form, with environmental sustainable and the respect of people-oriented spirit. This trend is lasting as the "harmony with nature, harmony with economic, harmony with social development" as regulation grows tighter. In this paper, the author chose Low-Carbon Urban Renewal as the observation angle, selected the pedestrian space, the most closely related to the person, as the research object, echoing the Low-Carbon from the micro level. As the most universal and economical way to travel in the old towns, pedestrian is one of the representative ways of low carbon emission, undoubtedly. But currently, motor vehicles make city life and morphology changing a beat all. Relying on the vehicles, urban space scale is difficult to control, which makes the citizens fall into passive and indifferent situation.The thesis of this paper stands on the point that throughout investigation and questionnaires. After the analysis of the research background and the subject of the origin, the author clarifies the development process from Urban Renewal to Low-Carbon Urban Renewal all around the world, which provides a basic for the research perspective. In order to show the significance of pedestrian in urban planning, the author carried on the evolution course of urban pedestrian evolution process, to analysis the development direction.Moreover, defines the concepts and scope of the research, clarify the study angle and methods to grasp the perspective and direction of pedestrian space under Low-Carbon Urban Renewal in this paper. Based on the research on public pedestrian and its influential factors, combined with the multiple analyses of survey data, the author concluded the present situation and problems of Guangzhou old town, which leads to the core of this paper:The pedestrian space in old town and the Low-Carbon Urban Renewal are two significant elements to each other, they own the relationship which influences urban form, urban life and urban energy.Furthermore, to face the current situation of pedestrian space, the author proposed the ideas that conforms to the sustainable development and the concept of human nature, which can be incorporated into planning strategy research and future practice in the field of Low-Carbon Urban Renewal. From local to the whole, including details of humanistic treatment for pedestrian space, to optimize the walking networks, and the division of pedestrian units. How to deal with the pedestrian redistribution under the humanistic scales, especially using the ecological, low-carbon techniques in such old town area in Guangzhou, makes it satisfy with people’s material and spirit needs, show up the characteristics of the city, are the core thesis of this paper.
