Flexible cable FFC is mainly used for signal transmission in electronic products, its maincharacteristic are thin-soft and resistance to bending. In order to replace the manual cutting andfolding of FFC, and improve the level of automation, based on a large amount of relevantliterature and theoretical research, this dissertation designs a flexible cable automatic cutting andfolding machine, combines two processes of cutting and folding, the work efficiency of thismachine is2times than cutting or folding machine alone, is15times than manual cutting orfolding. This paper makes a depth research around the theme of the key technology of flexiblecable automatic cutting and folding machine. The main research contents and the conclusions ofthis dissertation are arranged as follow.1) Summarized the characteristics and application of flexible cable FFC, the productionprocess and the automation level of FFC were studied, the technological development status athome and abroad of flexible cable automatic cutting and folding machine was analyzed, the keytechnical problem of the machine was put forward.2) According to the requirement of cutting and folding process of FFC, three designschemes of cutting and folding mechanism were proposed, the performance characteristics ofeach scheme was analyzed and researched, and the best design was selected. This dissertationused the Pro/E software to make3D modeling, motion simulation and interference detection forthe best scheme, ensured the correctness and rationality of product design.3) According to the action requests of cutting and folding mechanism, the hardware ofcontrol system was analyzed and selected, the design of origin search, manual control andautomatic control for PLC program was did, so the correctness and coordination of the actuatorwere guaranteed. In order to do the field wiring and debugging quickly and reliably, and improvethe stability of PLC system, the input and output of the PLC control circuit was designed andanalyzed.4) Aiming at the vibration problem of rotary table when machine is working, thisdissertation used the Ansys software to make the vibration modal analysis for the rotary table, obtained the first six order natural frequencies and analyzed the vibration types. In order toreduce the impact from vibration, the structure of the rotary table system was improved. Theresearch results show that the frequency of improved structure was raised, reduce the probabilityof resonance and the amount of deformation greatly, achieve the purpose of damping, and solvethe problem that the machine unusual engine off and the accuracy of product is poor whichcaused by vibration.5) Aiming at the problems of the roller slip, wire deformation and injure when working, thisdissertation designed a tension control device for wire, and analyzed the necessity of this device,ensured that the wire’s tension is always maintained in a suitable value, this research greatlyimproves the cutting and folding accuracy of FFC and the quality of the products.6) According to the design and analysis of the theory, the prototype manufacturing of theflexible cable automatic cutting and folding machine was did, the production test proves that thetheoretical study of this dissertation on the machine is correct and reaches the processrequirement of FFC.
