A mortar is a kind of artillery which is forced to fire by the gravity of shells. They have many advantages. For example, the structure is simple; the operation is convenient; rate of firing is high and the firing range is long, etc. They have been regarded as an extremely important regular infantry weapons since invented, as well as the main controlled weapons that support infantry. An elevating mechanism of a Φ60automatic multi barrel mortar driven by hydraulic power system is designed in this paper. It is a driving mechanism of the mortar elevation, and an important part of the mortar aiming device as well.In this paper, Solidworks is used to build the three-dimensional model of the elevating mechanism. The connection of the hydraulic cylinder is opted to use articulated installation. MATLAB is used to plot the curve which present the relationships between the angles of firing and the extended length of the cylinder, and the curve which present the relationships between the extending speed of the cylinder and the angles of firing. The hinge point trajectories are also drawn in the paper. The load of the hydraulic system is calculated approximately. Dynamic characteristics of hydraulic system are analyzed. The schematic of the hydraulic system is designed. Major hydraulic components are selected properly according to relevant manufacturer product samples. An asymmetric cylinder system model can be achieved by simplifying the hydraulic system. The system transfer function can be obtained by a detailed mathematical derivation. Then the control system block diagram will be drawn relying on the control system structure. MATLAB is used to draw a Bode diagram of the system which is used to analysis stability of the system. A Correction part is designed to correct the control system to obtain a better stability of the control system. MATLAB/Simulink is used for system response analysis to obtain the response characteristics of the system. At last a hydraulic elevating machine with a high precision angle control and high response speed that can satisfy the requirement is designed theoretically. Based on ANSYS Workbench software platform, the static force analysis of the Φ60automatic multi barrel mortar assembly model is done in this paper. By which, we can observe the carrying capacity of the assembly model and its stress and deformation distribution. The design of critical components has been optimized. Material in the area where has smaller stress and deformation is removed. Afterwards, static analysis verified that the modified assembly model has sufficient carrying capacity. Finally, the optimal design is achieved by reducing the weight of the whole mortar under the premise of meeting the carrying capacity.The research project improves the targeting performance of the fire angle of the Φ60light automatic multi barrel mortar and optimizes the mortar structure. It provides the analytical methods and theoretical foundation for the mortars elevating design in the future. It also plays a guiding role for upgrading and transforming weapons of our country, and helps to promote the development of the research of mortars elevating.
