Tower crane is extensively used in the construction industry. It can effectively save manpower and material resources, and greatly improve production efficiency. But in the construction process, the accident of casualties and equipment damage caused by improper operation occurs frequently. These accidents lead to significant loss to society. Aiming at this problem and according to the requirements of enterprises, a tower crane safety monitoring and management system is own designed and developed, and the monitoring system is designed overall. This paper focuses on signal acquisition system, signal alarming system, automatic control system and data storage system. ARM is used as its core controller in the system. In addition the tower crane safety monitoring and management system contains the sensor technology, signal acquisition technology and USB interface control technology. The tower crane safety monitoring and data processing system is researched and designed. The working condition of tower crane is monitored by this system. When danger occurs, the system will alarm. At the same time the tower crane motor will be controlled by the relay. The tower crane’s working data is stored to be the memory, achieving the function of tower crane’s safety monitoring and management. The main contents of this thesis include the following aspects.(1)According to the conditions and operating status of the tower crane, the function of the tower crane safety monitoring and management system is analyzed. The central unit of the monitoring system solutions is determined and the design of the tower crane signal acquisition system, signal warning system and data storage system are completed.(2)Tower crane signal acquisition system and alarming system are designed. Tower crane signal acquisition system transmits the analog signals sampled by sensors as lifting weight, lifting height, tower crane luffing, slewing angle, wind speed, motor voltage, motor current, motor temperature to the processor’s A/D converter module with the processing of impedance transform and low-pass filtering, and convert the analog signal into a digital signal in real-time. At the same time, the signal is displayed on the LCD screen. Signal warning system includes audible and visual alarm module and relay control module. The audible alarm works when value surpasses90percent of the warning value. A trigger signal may be send to the corresponding relays if dangerous actions continue. Then it can control the slowdown or movement direction limiting.(3)Tower crane data storage system is designed. The system selects U disk as the data storage medium to facilitate the tower crane data management. Data storage systems establish master-slave work mode through document management chip and processor. And achieve non-PC devices’ reading and writing operations, delete operations, create files on the U disk. Data monitoring system will write the work data to the U disk in real time, and provide a reliable basis for the analysis of tower crane working condition.(4)The monitoring system prototype is tested at the construction site. Firstly, each sensor is installed on the tower crane. And connect them to this system via cable. Secondly, the sensors are calibrated and zeroing. Last, the system is debugged online. Through the on-site testing and analysis results, the monitoring system is stable, good usability and promotional value.
