Science and technology constantly promote the progress of the era, while industrial technology is also in the scale growth, which puts forward higher and higher requirements for electric power system. The growth of industrial and personal demand high performance of power, leading the appearance of the (ultra) high voltage power grid network; The application of intelligent technique on planning of power grid,pushing the rise of smart grid, and getting higher requirement on its reliability and sensitivity; The congenital regional imbalance of power grid’s planning, making integration become a problem worth thinking;The investment, operation, use of lots kinds of new power equipment,increase the influence factors of power quality. Therefore, the safe, efficient, economic and reliable operation of power system has become an important factor to promote the development of society. It is a critical problem to think about how to effectively solve the grid reactive power loss, load balancing, voltage fluctuation, harmonic influence. Using reactive power compensation can effectively improve power quality, maintain the stability of power system, and ensure the economic benefit, static reactive compensation device are commonly used. As a part of electric power system, urban power grid directly connects the city users, and its stability and reliability has great significance on social stability development. So it has practical significance to the use of reactive power compensation on urban power grid.This paper introduced the development of reactive power compensation technology, through analysis, take TCR+TSC type as the ideal device; By comparing SVC control strategy and algorithm, this paper take the three-phase instantaneous reactive power compensation theory and C.P. Steinmetz equilibration principle as SVC control strategy. Aimed to reactive power compensation, the research use the instantaneous reactive power theory in three-phase circuit to quickly calculated, and use C.P. Steinmetz equilibration principle to study the balance of three-phase voltage unbalance. After established the simulation model, analyze the compensation effect of different control parameters and strategy in MATALAB environment.
