In the majority of China’s coastal regions and along the river, the widespread distribution of soft clay silt.Silty soft clay with a high water content, low-intensity, high-compression, low permeability and other shortcomings. Typically such soil can not meet the requirements engineering.In order to improve the soft clay silt these undesirable characteristics. In the engineering construction using a variety of methods to process it, such as dynamic compaction method, vacuum preloading method, surcharge preloading method.Because of the soft clay silt with low permeability, using conventional drainage consolidation method will continue for a long time when handling such soil, and sometimes soil reinforcement effect is not ideal. With the rapid development of China’s engineering construction and the increasingly urgent demand for land. A new method of soft soil treatment-Electroosmosis drainage consolidation method. Electroosmosis drainage consolidation method gradually been applied in the project, and more and more widely used in the treatment of sludge soft clay foundation, and achieved good results. Based on the existing theories and engineering practices of electroosmosis method, attempts by laboratory experiments to study the effect of nanomaterials on soil electroosmosis drainage consolidation.The main work and research results in this paper are as following:The paper summarizes the research status of electro-osmosis method and engineering application, development and application of nanomaterials. The paper elaborated mechanism of electro-osmosis consolidation,scope of application and combination with other methods.Through laboratory experiments to study the effects of nano-montmorillonite on soil electro-osmotic consolidation and Mechanical Properties. Experimental results show that nano-montmorillonite can effectively improve the soil shear strength,but does not promote the role of electro-osmosis drainage. This paper is a study of soft clay silt from of Wuhan Dongxihu District. Do electroosmosis experiment for different voltages, different nano-iron oxide content in the soil. Recording changes in the experiment, such as voltage, current, displacement, etc. Study the effect of nano iron oxide for the electro-osmotic of soil. Summed up the best electro-osmotic drainage scheme. Experimental results show that nano-iron oxide can improve the efficiency of electro-osmosis drainage, soil added2‰nano-iron oxide electro-osmotic effect is the best.
