The three goals of the project management are schedule, quality and benefit. Safety production is the guarantee of a project to success its goals. During the subway construction project, the schedule management is the key factor to its achievements. Applied both professional project management tools and methods, as well as, good correlation cooperation with the parties is the foundation of improving the schedule management level. But in numbers of subway construction cases, the following circumstances happened very often such as the low progress management level, delay of project completion date and regardless costs to catch up schedule. The subway construction is a systematic engineering. In order to complete the project goals, you have to coordinate the staff, machine, material, method and environment. Under the certain condition of resources, the cores of the subway construction project are constituted a reasonable construction plan, developed the scientific construction schedule and dominated all of the other elements. It has a vital practical significance for improving the management level of subway construction as well.Project S is the first tender section of the whole subway construction project. Due to this project is DaLian’s first subway construction project, in addition it is under the background of stimulate domestic demand, increase investment scale and loosen the restrictions of building subways in Second-tier cities, each participation parties did not pay enough attention to the engineering management, particularly the "schedule management" which can reflect engineering completion characteristics。Some problems exist such as people’s indifference, no further research and no scientific management. The specific problems finally lead to more and more complicated system problems. Therefore, it is meaningful to do the schedule management research for project S.This paper firstly states the project management theories, the project schedule management theories and methods, then detailed the present situation of project S, include describe some jobs which has been done and outcomes which we got already。Secondly, decomposed project S from WBS, by using’MS Project2003’Project management software, analyzed the current problems and lessons. Then, according to the effective methods and tools of schedule control, using schedule control during the implementation of the project, evaluating the project schedule management and put forward several suggestions about the schedule control, in order to promote the dynamic management of project S. At the last but not the least, some problems are asked in the outlook section such as further use of network planning technique, optimum distribution of resources and strengthen project appraisal like feasibility and the preparatory work.
