With China’s economy gradually entering a new accelerated growth period, the contradiction of energy supply and demand, especially the intense demand for electricity, began to highlight again. Nowadays, China is facing an annual electric energy deficit between output and demand of about9%. The state has adopted a series of related policies and has adjusted the electricity price system to encourage industrial enterprises to conserve electricity, thereby reducing the waste of electric energy. In the industrial production, electricity cost is one of the four most important cost. However, for most of the enterprises, it is also the last one that remain uncontrolled. Nevertheless, electric equipment of economic operation is an important work for energy conservation and consumption reduction. It not only reduces the electricity cost, but also enhances the core competitiveness of enterprises.This paper aims at a company in Shenyang, focuses on the need of the enterprise, and investigates the electricity saving and consumption reduction technology. It is found that the transformer power loss has been reducd. The level of security and stability of electric power has been improved. Moreover, the electric power equipment operation and maintenance cost as well as the electricity cost has been cut down. Hence, the present study could provide technology support for this company.Firstly, based on the power loss problem of transformers in the actual production process, theory of economic operation of transformer has been introduced to reduce the transformer power loss. As the merits of the technical characteristics of the transformer is a prerequisite for economic operation of transformer, in this paper, two different types of judgment methods for transformer operation, viz. the same capacitiy and the different capacities, has been proposed. On this basis, a scientific division of economical operational area has been conducted. Moreover, the economic benefits of the production of transformer economic operation have been illustrated through examples of analysis.Secondly, based on the problem of power consumption costs caused by startig equipments freely, a’reducing peak and filling valley’model have been proposed. The scientificity of this model has been demonstrated firstly. Then, two existing industrial electricity price system has been analyzed. Reducing peak and filling valley has been achieved using the actual power data the collected by power monitoring system. Furthermore, based on the analysis of reducing the power consumption of equipments, the creditable evidence has been provided for startup or shutdown of the electric equipments.Thirdly, according to the characteristics of electric power development, the modified grey model, such as residual model and combination model, has been compared. Particle Swarm Optimization Grey Model (PSOGM) has been finally chosen to predict the monthly electricity demand. The prediction accuracy has been found to be improved. Also, recommendations have been porvided for the startup or shutdown of electric equipment such as the transformer.At last, the energy saving management system (ESMS) has been designed and implemented. This system includes four modules:system management, economic operation of transformer, equipment energy saving and electricity demand forecast. The ESMS could display the use of electricity and provide a reference for enterprises to optimize the use of electricity. Besides, the interface of ESMS is humanization,convenient to operate and easy to use.
