Theoretical and experimental researches of dynamic design and behavior parameters of locomotive and its key components are one of the important technologies of the steady operation of locomotive, and the key methods to realize above goals are the application of modal analysis and its experimental methods. Referring to TB/T3115-2005, both of the modal analysis method and technical route based on TB are put forward by analysis of experimental methods of body structure of locomotive. The determined method of the paper includes two stages, the designed status and the servicing status, to complete the modal analysis of product structures. The purpose is to establish the test system of EMA of locomotive. The vibrating behaviors of main components of locomotive can be analyzed by this designed system. Meanwhile, it can provide a test specification for the dynamic behavior test and parameter analysis of the new overloaded locomotive.In order to verify the validity and feasibility of the improved method,30T axle load locomotive is taken as a specific instance. All of the EMA of the structure of body, auxiliary converter cabinet, main converter cabinet and blower etc. are completed respectively under the designed status and the servicing status, and their modal parameters can be identified. The completed works are as follows:Firstly, for the structural characteristics of locomotive, both of the methods of EMA and the test model designs of locomotive are determined, and then the test systems of EMA are built in two kinds of status. As a result, the modal parameters of structures are identified.Secondly, the hammering method is adopt to complete the EMA of designed status of locomotive. Comparing experimental modal parameters with the FEM results, behaviors of processed products are analyzed, and it can be used for the revision of finite element model of structures of locomotive.Thirdly, both of the methods of the hammer and OMA are adopt to complete experimental modal analysis of locomotive under the servicing status. Referring to TB/T3115-2005, both of the dynamic behaviors of the body structure and the rolling test rig are evaluated by experimental modal parameters of the rolling test rig and railway lines. In addition, the rationality of the installation of structures is assessed by experimental modal parameters of the designed status and the servicing status.Finally, aimed at the modal modes of body structure, the mutual influence can be analyzed between the modal vibrating-shapes of body and other key components.
