Bucket wheel stacker and reclaimer is one of the large bulk material handing processing equipment, because it has the advantages of stable running and high production efficiency, it is indispensable by the countries of the whole world. In the market today, the bucket wheel stacker and reclaimer has been widely used in the electricity, transportation, building materials and chemical industry, etc. The equipment has different structures, it is the reason that can be divided into three different types of cantilever type, gantry type and bridge type. Among them, gantry bucket wheel stacker reclaimer as one of a class of material handling equipment continuously, which has advantages of higher efficiency and more flexible operation, it is easier to realize automatic control. Because of the above advantages, the gantry type is widely used in bulk storage area such as electric power, metallurgy, mining and port industry. As the increasement of the construction and expansion project such as steel mills, power plants, port field, and the environmental protection requirements gradually improve, the gantry bucket wheel stacker reclaimer equipment which is the bulk yard supporting facilities should also be constant innovation, that is development direction is larger, higher automation, lower energy consumption and higher requirements of environmental protection.The metal structure part is the main support of the equipment of gantry bucket wheel stacker reclaimer, and it also impacts on the normal and efficient work serious, so to ensure the strength and rigidity of the metal structure is very important, and it is also the key steps in the process of design at the same time. Through the traditional and theoretical calculation, the main load on the structure of metal are:fixed beam, beam, leg and other parts of self-respect, of every mobile belt conveyor, the weight of the stacker-reclaimer belt conveyor, bucket wheel body weight, material load and live load, rail load, wind load and snow load, etc., such a complex stress state to calculate the strength of the metal structure and stiffness increases a lot of difficulty. With the progress of science and technology, Especially the rapid development of computer aided design, the finite element analysis software as an important means of aided design have been applied to practical design of complex engineering problems. This article will set up the finite element analysis model for research object by the representative of the finite element analysis software ANSYS, apply the load under the actual condition accurately, And carries on the static analysis and modal analysis. Through the finite element analysis, we can analyse the mechanical deformation degree of equipment under various working conditions intuitively, and also can determine the size and location of the maximum stress, it can also checks whether the metal structure strength and stiffness of qualify, and t the weak position of the structure need to strengthen, and achieve the purpose of further perfection of design. Based on the ANSYS finite element analysis for the product design is an important check method, but also plays an important role in guidance for design, seriously affects the efficiency of design and production, Gradually becomes an important means of modern design.
