Power management chip plays a very important role in consumer electronics.Low dropout linear regulator, as an important part of power management integratedcircuits, can convert electrical energy, redistribute electrical energy, test the deviceand manage other chips. Power management chip performance directly determinesthe performance of the electronic equipment. Low dropout linear regulator has a lotof advantages, including low noise, high integration, high efficiency, low powerconsumption and few external devices. Therefore, using low dropout linearregulators to achieve power management chip has become a hot research topic inrecent years.First, the purpose of this research project and the development of domestic andabroad were presented. Secondly, the author emphatically carried on the basicstructure, work principle and important properties of low dropout linear regulator.Thirdly, this article described various components in detail, including bandgapvoltage reference, error amplifier, power adjustment device, insulation resistance andmoderate protection circuit and so on, which make up low dropout linear regulator.Additionally, performance index of these devices were also confirmed. Finally, theauthor pointed out the important research direction of low dropout linear regulator.This article used simulation software to carry out simulation for systems andmodules. Simulation results are as follows: the input voltage varies from2.68~5V,the stable output voltage in the circuit is2.5V, the maximum output current is150mAin the low dropout linear regulator circuit, and its quiescent current varies from50~58μA; When the frequency is less than10KHz, the value of power supplyrejection ratio (PSRR) is72dB; When the temperature is higher than118℃, the over-temperature protection circuit in the circuit will start to work, When the outputcurrent is higher than180mA, the over-current protection circuit in the circuit willstart to work. This design makes the low dropout linear regulator safer and better. Asyou can see from the simulation analysis of low dropout linear regulator, this design has a complete function and good performance.
