In recent years, the quantity of the space mission is gradually increasing and the space missions are becoming more complex. It is inevitable that the manipulator will contact with the object, and in order to finish the task successfully, the velocity of the object after contact should be forecasted. On the other hand, in the capsule docking process, to guarantee the two capsules will not separate after contact, the velocity of the capsule should be controlled in time. Therefore the impact analysis of the rigid bodies is necessary. This thesis will focus on setting up a three-dimensional space impact model, which includes the impact dynamics theory research, the establishment of simulation platform and some experiments based on the simulation platform to verify the accuracy of the model. The study includes the following aspects:Firstly, the impact model of the rigid bodies with no friction is set up according discrete and continuous model respectively. The research of discrete model includes:Newton’s model, Poisson’s model and Stronge’s model. The research of continuous model includes four kinds spring damping model.Secondly, the impact of two rigid bodies considering tangential friction in three dimensional space is studied. It extends Stronge’s spring-based planar contact structure to three dimensions by introducing three orthogonal virtual springs. Impact analysis is carried out using normal impulse rather than time as the only independent variable, unlike previous work on tangential impulse. This makes the algorithm more compact. At last, collision is governed by a system of differential equations and the method is verified by the numerical simulation.Thirdly, the microgravity environment for impact experiment in ground is set up to simulate the impact in the space. The microgravity environment includes:an air flow table, receiving system, dummy satellite system, docking structure, and sensor system. And collection software of the laser range finder, the gyroscope and the six-axis force sensor is compiled. Finally, some impact experiments are designed and researched to verify the theoretical model. The experiments includes:measuring the coefficient of restitution and direct impact. According to the comparison between experiment data and the theoretical data, the theoretical model is identified.
