With the resource shortage problem increasingly prominent, the trade-off between the performance improving and material using is a persistent question. Therefore structures lightweight became more and more brought to the attention by the designers.In this article, structural strength, stiffness and free modal was analyzed for CRH5EMU vehicle body remove the inside end wall before and after, according to the results we can get the impact of the inside end wall on these performance, then single-objective optimization for weight of vehicle body and the structure desigh of inside end wall were probed. The main contents of this article include:1) Considering that bodyshell is complex, after simplified properly, established two kinds of finite element model of vehicle body remove inside end wall before and after.2) According to the standard of EN12663:2000, the strength for two kinds of body was analyzed under10main working conditions, and still calculated its stiffness and free modal, according to the results we can get the impact of the inside end wall on these performance.3) Comparing simulation results with the test results from structural static strength testing report, shown that the simulation results are reliable.4) Using simcode in Isight integrated Ansys, put the thickness of inside end wall and underframe as the design variables, with the lightest of body quality as the single objective in several loads. Variables were filtered by DOE firstly,and obtain the sensitivity of design variables on corresponding performance; Then based on the approximate model to optimization throught the strategy of combining the ASA and NLPQL, the effect is obvious and optimization efficiency is higher.The bending stiffness, torsional stiffness and first order vertical bending vibration have different degrees of improvement after optimization.5) Based on the original structure of the inside end wall increasing the longitudinal and transverse beams, and then using the software of Sculptor to establish corresponding control volume. Analysis of the effects after changing the structure of longitudinal and transverse beams and their placement by using Simcode integrated Ansys and Sculptor.Finally, obtained the reasonable structure and layout of longitudinal and transverse beams, and the uniform distribion of stiffness is presented from the analysis results.The research of this article provides certain reference value for structure analysis of high speed vehicle and the optimization design of large structure, and also makes certain foundation for further studies of railway vehicle’s optimization design.
