The Design Research Of Square Open Space Based On Elderly Demand

With urban aging tendency continuing to accelerate, needs of the elderly cannot be ignored.City square is not only a main communication place for the elderly,but also an important place for physical activity and social interaction.In recent years,however,all the country are racing to build up squares,we also have noticed that many squares lack for the behavior activity and psychological experience of users’ research and assessment of needs.Only from the subjective perspective of designers and builders,the square cannot play the role of publicity and recreational function and squares’ utilization rate is low.Through the literature and comprehensive research of different subjects theory achievement, this paper aims to observe and investigate the elderly in square by taking the questionnaire survey method, field survey method,pictures and observation method.By using a variety of analysis methods to analyze the results of the survey and summary, I can summarize the demand characteristics of urban old people on the square and space physical environment evaluation of squares,and finally make optimal design of Pingyang River square.Through the study of three squares in Tai’an and Xin’tai,from the individual to the whole, I wish to provide an angle of the landscape designer to solve the problem of low utilization rate and square dance noise problem, etc.and provide certain reference for realizing the barrier-free design of the square.
