| At present, the cities in China are undergoing rapid, persistent and deep development. City development can be divided into two aspects:urbanization and urban modernization. The former, urbanization, focuses on the dilation of the quantity and expansion of scale. The latter, urban modernization, emphasizes on quality improvement and function optimizing. In pursuit of urban modernization, governments often take advantage of large-scale urban renewal, and took the blocks that are rich in historical and cultural atmosphere as an important part of city charm and vitality. Images and features of the blocks are closely related to the cities. This article took Gongchen Bridge West Historical Preservation District in Hangzhou as study object, and tries to put forward the view of transforming and updating historical preservation blocks which accords with the current China’s national conditions.This article introduces foreign protection situation and the process of China on historical and cultural heritage preservation. And it briefly set out four types of land development mode for the historical and cultural blocks. And it reviews two cases-"JuEr Hutong" and "Tianzifang" that are famous in the development of historical preservation blocks in present China.This article uses the Gongchen Bridge West Historical Preservation District in Hangzhou for a practical example, to explore the patterns of the historical and cultural blocks conservation and utilization in the new century. And it puts forward the content, the public idea and policy on the historical preservation blocks protection and utilization in the process of urban renewal. This article also expounds the necessity of establishing public participation system of urban planning, and discusses how to reasonably deal with the issues between the authenticity and living development of historical preservation blocks. In order to provide the basis for the future protection work, this article pays attention to the problems of formats ascension and sustainable development about historical preservation blocks. |
