| With the rapid development of urbanization in China, the urban development model has also begun to change from incremental to stock development. The renewal and reuse of cities has also become a hot topic in today’s society.Driven by the urban renewal policy, many renewal modes and methods have emerged in the historical and cultural blocks located in the core area of the city, and the results also show a positive trend. However,in the past, the renewal often focused on the internal and external environment of the architectural space, focusing on static protection and economic benefits, resulting in a lack of attention to the boundary space of the historical and cultural blocks. This paper focuses on the boundary space of historical and cultural blocks neglected by the public, selects Furong street Bai Hua Zhou historical and cultural block as the research sample, and takes the optimization of pedestrian traffic, the creation of shared space, the establishment of multi-functional public space as the research entry point, solves the existing problems of the boundary space, and optimizes the space to adapt to or even improve the quality of residents’ daily life and social communication.Firstly, starting with the study of boundary attribute theory, environment and behavior relationship theory and Maslow’s hierarchy of needs theory, this paper summarizes the relationship between boundary connotation, boundary space and human behavior and needs, which provides a theoretical basis for subsequent research.Secondly, combined with the boundary space practice cases of different scales at home and abroad, this paper summarizes and analyzes the renewal concept, which provides a reference for the follow-up renewal strategy and renewal design practice.Thirdly, the Furong street Bai Hua Zhou historical and cultural block is selected as a typical sample to conduct field research on the boundary space in the three levels of residential unit scale, courtyard scale and household scale. It is concluded that different boundary spaces have problems such as traffic chaos, lack of function, waste of resources, occupation of fields, and residents’ functional needs for the boundary space. Finally, according to the relevant theories, renewal cases, the current situation and residents’ needs of Furong street Bai Hua Zhou historical and cultural block, this paper discusses how to explore and create more suitable environment for residents’ activities and living in the limited boundary space, and puts forward reasonable renewal principles and strategies. On this basis, the design practices such as placement, connection and nesting are used for design practice,And then realize the transformation of boundary space from simplification to function compounding.Through combing, this topic can not only enrich the theoretical system of boundary space renewal design of historical and cultural blocks, but also solve the problem of long-term idleness and unmanaged boundary space, and even update to meet the actual needs of the users of historical and cultural blocks,so as to promote the renewal and construction of boundary space of historical and cultural blocks in China. |
