There are two parts in pressure monitoring system for fire fighting equipment: the digital pressure gauge and the Bluetooth communication equipment. Besides, the software of serial port communication is written in the PC machine.The digital pressure gauge of the system is based on PIC18F65K90 microcontroller. The amplifying signal of piezoresistive pressure sensor can be displayed in real time on the LCD screen. When processing the pressure signal, it is corrected by revised temperature compensation coefficient. The accuracy level of system for pressure detection is 0.2. Bluetooth communication equipment is also based on PIC16F886 microcontroller, which using Bluetooth wireless communication to accept the pressure data from the host and segment tips according to the pressure rating. When receiving pressure signal exceeds the limit, it will generate an alarm signal and be stored in EEPROM of microcontroller permanently.The PC serial communication software is based on MFC. The digital pressure gauge is controlled by the software comprehensively. Data is transported between serial port and microcontroller. The validate data can be obtained from EEPROM. Then, the data need to be stored in the SQL Server 2005 database.Operating mode of ultra low power is a major innovation in this system. The operating current of this mode is only 20μA. By comparison, the current reduced about 10 times. It can be dropped out conveniently and reliably. Another feature of the system is the algorithm of handling the pressure signal. First of all, the curve is divided into several straight lines to approximate with table. In addition to the filtering of software, the slope of the straight lines by the temperature compensation coefficient is also needed to correct. The stability and reliability of the output pressure signal can be improved by this method.The pressure monitoring system for fire fighting equipment is based on PIC18F65K90 microcontroller. The needs of the fire department can be met. From the acquisition, processing and transmission of analog signal of the pressure sensor to the digital, systematic and automated output and management of data, this system is convenient and secure for firefighters.
