The article 15 in the 12th five-year plan mentioned "to strengthen the construction of power grid", and the emerging energy industry planning also mentioned that to suit the construction of smart grid and operation system with the development of new energy. Predictably, our country in the next five years will speed up the construction of the smart grid system to meet the needs of China’s energy structure. The automatic transfer switching in digital (intelligent) substation is an integral part of the smart grid, and has played a pivotal role to safeguard the economy and reliability of the power system, which also plays a technical support for the stable development of power system.First, the article introducedthe light and shade switch device, and illustrated two kinds of typical connection mode, and put forwardthe basic requirements of the automatic transfer switching. The paper took PSP642 digital backup power for exampleto introduce the basic connection mode for the automatic transfer switching. The paper introducedthe cold and hot standby, as well as the related action logic according to the different connection mode.Second, the articl analysed the working principle, the existing problems and the relevant solutions of the switch device of the main transformer and the cast into line. Through the three cases, the paper took analysis on the problems of the switch devicesin the spot environment.Third, the paper introduced the basic access of the related electric logic in substation automation system, and took a comparison of the networking and point to point mode. It can realize the digital intelligentfunction of the prepared from the cast based on IEC61850-9-2 sampling protocol and network transmission value brewed GOOSE mechanism of network. The method adopted the structure of the network, which saved the related signals of the loop number, and the closed circuits, and lowering the difficulty of the design and construction.According to actual situation introduces digital (intelligent) substation 110 kV under prepared for the implementation of the scheme.Finally, the test method was introduced for the automatic transfer switching,and there were six aspects in the experiment, including the test switch device, test task, work plan time, experiment contents, experiment steps, and the content of the matters needing attention. This paper introduced thecalibration solution ofthe automatic transfer switching in 35 kVwith the# 2 main transformer locking the protection, and focused on the content of the test, as well as relevant safetyprecautions.
