In recent years, the operation of power plant faces the growing challenge. In order to improve the economic benefit, power plant must improve the management method and reduce the cost. The equipment maintenance is very complex and the maintenance has a lot of risk which leads to accident easily. If these risks can not be evaluated and control, it not only affects the quality and schedule of maintenance, and also will produce a great cost. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate the maintenance risks of power plant. Maintenance risks can be controlled effectively on the basis of the evaluation of maintenance risks, so as to improve the quality and level of the whole maintenance and the overall efficiency and competitiveness of power plant.This paper expounds the power plant maintenance related theory and risk evaluation theory and method. The power plant maintenance related theory mainly includes maintenance level, maintenance method, maintenance interval and stop using days, maintenance plan and rolling planning for five years. Then the present maintenance situation, maintenance risks and risk evaluation of Guohua Taicang power plant are studied. And on this basis maintenance risk evaluation model of Guohua Taicang power plant is put forward to solve the risks existed in the maintenance, so as to improve the management level and the effect of maintenance. The management process is as follows: firstly, the maintenance risks are identified, at the same time the maintenance risk index system is determined, then the maintenance risks are evaluated by using the superiority chart method and semi-quantitative evaluation method. According to the evaluation result of the maintenance risks the risks can be controlled. In this paper, the maintenance risk evaluation model of Guohua Taicang power plant is applied to # 8 unit maintenance during the Spring Festival. According to the statistics of unit defect, the maintenance content of maintenance project is determined. Then the risks of maintenance project is determined and evaluated. Finally, the corresponding risk control measures are proposed, at the same time, the application effect is analyzed.
