As one of the key facility within the harbor, the normal operation of navigation mark is very important to the safety and economy of the ships. However, due to the monitoring method of navigation mark is too old, it is difficult to achieve the goals of keeping the safety and efficient management of the increasingly booming ports. Based on this situation, in the 21st century, our country has explored and built the automatic navigation monitoring of some ports. Most of the systems are using a "GSM+GPS" mode, which has advantage of high transfer rate, a low cost and no delays. However, the open commercial signal of the US GPS system has a large error, and GSM signal also has some blind spots. Our self-developed BeiDou satellite positioning system can not only provide accurate time, navigation, positioning and other services, but also have a short message communication function, which can also establish a communications link without ground base stations. It can ensure the transmission of information between the processing center and the navigation mark without blind spots, which provides a new way for the efficient management of ports’navigation marks.This paper uses the information collection, data communications, embedded software and hardware platform technologies. Based on the second-generation of BeiDou satellite system, it designs an intelligent navigation mark monitoring system. This paper also introduces the design and implementation of monitoring system that based on BeiDou satellite system. The specific contents are as follow:By analyzing design requirement of the navigation mark monitoring system, it selects the appropriate positioning and communication module program, and it introduces the integrated design of this system. It also designs and introduces the information collection terminal hardware circuit and the software solutions, including the BeiDou communication module, power modules, choice of the main components and the module design of information collection and setting of the navigation marks.The intelligent navigation mark monitoring system is a multidisciplinary project, which includes software programming technology, satellite navigation, wireless messaging, databases and other technologies. So the research of this paper is an active exploration to the intelligent navigation mark and digital management mode of the ports.
