Traditional airplane harness design is mainly completed by AutoCAD drawing, meanwhile, data queries of harness draft and Excel documents of process report have to be finished manually. Despite of the massive manual work, data designed by AutoCAD contains no electrical properties and lack effective means, such as the digital design rule check, to ensure the accuracy of the design data. Also, data management ability cannot satisfy current requirements. In order to solve these problems, a novel harness design and management of aircraft has to be proposed.Analyzing problems mentioned above and taking actual requirement of current design and production into account,, we introduced a new designing software of wiring harness-- CHS(Capital Harness System) and proposed a new designing flow of wiring harness and electrical system, based on which we designed and implemented wiring harness aided design and data management system. The system consists of two major subsystems, which are harness aided-design subsystem and data management subsystem. Harness aided-design subsystem is used in design process of wiring harness, aiming to reduce repeated manual operation, shorten working hours and improve the quality of designs. It contains three modules: automatic naming module, design rule check module and wiring harness properties extraction and back annotation module. Meanwhile, we designed and built a data management subsystem based on SSI framework for data management problems existing in aircraft wiring harness design process. Its major modules are as follows: management of design information module, management of data of design information, management of craft data, report generation module and log management module. It offers a digital and standard way to manage data, so that the craft Engineers can query and edit the data quickly, and generate specific format reports which can guide workers to produce the harness accurately.Compared with conventional systems, the proposed system greatly reduced repeated operations and improved the quality of the airplane design data simultaneously. Moreover, it has significant advantages in reducing system complexity, increasing accuracy and enhancing information technology standardization, consistency and so on. Has been put into use last year, it has not only greatly improved the degree of automation, information technology and digital aircraft harness designing, but also promoted the overall level of the design and manufacture of wiring harness system, thus gaining wonderful user feedbacks.
