As a special industry, automobile driver training industry there is a large number of students and tremendous benefits. Its training quality can not only directly reflect the drivers’ driving level but also indirectly influence the stability and security of the national traffic. However, the training resource is limited, the training method is single and some driving school operators are mercenary, so many students cannot be properly trained, which results that traffic accidents frequently happen in recent years. Due to the traditional test methods cannot adapt to the current complex traffic environment, the Ministry of Public Security promulgated a decree No.123, in which a series of reform and plan are carried on about the test and training standards. Thus the difficulty of driver training is greatly increased. It is difficult for the driving coaches to accept the present training simulators which have automobile simulation functions but the simulation adopts simple 3D figures and the sense of reality is weak. Owing to the above problems, the precise 3D visual simulation system appears on the scene. It can not only improve the drivers’level, but also solve such problems as training difficulty because of too much personnel, saving training costs and decreasing the environment pollution, etc. In this paper the key techniques of the visual driver simulation system are mainly researched. Firstly, the composition of simulation system is studied, and the system function is detailedly designed according to the effective demand. After the data acquisition, the texture disposition and the modeling are analyzed, the MultiGen Creator of instantiation, the texture mapping and LOD technology are adopted to improve the visual generating efficiency, which enhances the visual stereo feeling and the sense of reality. Secondly, the car collision problem in virtual environment is this paper analyzed. basing on the comparison of the common collision detection algorithm, a simplified algorithm of is raised to improve the operation efficiency of the system. Thirdly, aiming at the problem that the quality of the model in the scene simulation system model is at variance with the amount of data of contradictory, the 3DS Max and MultiGen Creator software are contrasted. Then the two modeling methods are married together and models of the distant vision, close shot, and the solid model of the scene environment are built respectively, which ensures the model’s fidelity and the operational efficiency of the system. Fourthly, Virtools are used as the development tool for virtual reality. With the help of its own Physics Car BB the virtual driving environment is structured and the functions of collision detection, weather changes and environment changes of the system are realized, which can conveniently realize the interactive simulation driving feeling.
