Every year when graduation season comes, reports about tough situation of job hunting become everywhere. Nobody could estimate whether this year is the toughest because next year the situation might be tougher. Growth of graduates’ number indicates increase of national education level as well as more unemployment after graduation. Students cannot find a job after graduation is not only an individual loss, but also a waste of national resource. Researchers found that the reason why graduate cannot find a proper job is that they do not meet requirements of employers rather than there is not enough job opportunities. Therefore, how to help students to improve their abilities and skill and find a comparatively satisfying job is an urgent task.This article studies employers’ requirements for electrical engineering graduates, abilities students possess and relationship between the two. The whole article is divided into seven chapters. Chapter 1 describes goals, methods, objective and methods of the research. Chapter 2 gives a brief review to employability researches. In Chapter 3, the author analyses common employability skills requirements for all college graduates. Meanwhile, the author also analyses university recruitment process and features in recruiting Electrical Engineering graduates through documentary studies. In Chapter 4, based on survey among 97 employers and 263 graduates from SC University, the author makes comparative analyses of key abilities and characteristics using IBM SPSS 19.0, and tries to discover the gap between employers and graduates. In Chapter 5, the article analyses SC University’s present methods of improve EE students’ employability and its weak-points. In Chapter 6, the author provides solutions. Universities should educate students based on employers’ needs, help student make career plans and urge students study and do internship in accordance with their career plans. By taking full use of employers’ resources, universities may help student extend interview time and increase possibilities of success employment. Chapter 7 is a conclusion of the whole article.In the past, researcher studied students’ employability studies from university and students approach. This paper argues that, employers’ requirements vary according to the different professions and industries. Universities and students should be needs-based. It is the only effective way to solve the employment problem.
