With the advance of the automotive industry and the constant improvement of living standards, the demand of people for automotive applications has also been diversified. Engine is the core of automotive, and its research has been deepening.As the important subsystem of the automobile engine, the technology of cooling system has made much progress. Howere,the cooling system of the traditional automotive engine had some limitations, so it was very necessary to carry out the study about the intelligent of cooling system.Based on the basic principle and composition of the cooling system and the modern automotive engine working process’ s requirements to the cooling system,the design put forward a scheme about electronic control cooling system for the automotive engine.AT89C52 single-chip is the core of this system.And the system mainly contains of single-chip minimum system, temperature sensor, electronic thermostat, electronic fan,electronic pump, liquid crystal display and a buzzer. In the hardware design, each part of the circuit was elaborated detailedly and the circuit diagrams were drawn by the Proteus 7.8. In the software design, the whole program flow chart was given. And the train of thought for the main program and subroutines was also elaborated. Then the total program of the design was written by the assembly language, using Keil uvision2 to do the compiling and debugging.Finally, the system was simulated by the Proteus 7.8. And the results showed that the system achieved the desired effects,and it could work in accordance with the ideal control strategy.
