The expressway is an important infrastructure of national economy and social development. With the acceleration of the expressway construction in China, the main skeleton of expressway network which is employed to connecting large and medium-sized cities and areas has gradually formed. In recent years, the extreme weather conditions and geological disasters cause a growing number of expressway accidents, and put people’s lives and property safety into an extremely dangerous situation. In order to deal with the problem of frequent accidents caused by bad weather conditions, it is one of the hotspots for expressway informationization and intelligence construction that how to collect, report and release meteorological information of different expressway sections, and make effective countermeasures to ensure the expressways run efficiently and safely. In this paper, the monitoring problem of meteorological information for expressway is studied thoroughly. In addition, a meteorological information system which includes the image, wind speed, wind direction, rainfall, atmospheric pressure, temperature and humidity is designed to realize real-time acquisition, report and publication for the different sections of expressway. The research of this dissertation has important engineering application value for the safety operation and overall efficiency of expressway. Specifically, the main work of this thesis can be summarized as follows:(1) For meteorological information acquisition and release system requirements of expressway, the combined system overall framework which includes the lower machine and superordination machine is proposed in this paper. The meteorological information acquisition system of ARM + Linux and signal acquisition circuits of sensor hardware is designed by using the mini2440 development board. A weather information publishing system based on JBoss platform with the characteristics of B/S constructure is designed for the superordination machine.(2) The driver program is designed and developed for the image, wind speed and direction, temperature and humidity, atmospheric pressure and rainfall sensor, which can realize the acquisition and processing of images and the meteorological data. By employing TCP/IP communication protocol, the data transmission format and application of data acquisition system and the upper machine is designed to complete the uploading work of the image data and meteorological data through the Ethernet.(3) By using the JBoss development and deployment environment of Redhat Corporation, the meteorological information acquisition and publishing system is designed and developed for expressway, which can realize the query, management and release function of meteorological information. System test results show that the data acquisition error of the sensors is within the prescribed scope, and the information release system can run for a long time stably. The meteorological information acquisition and publishing system can provide the technical support for the expressway operation management and the custom traffic meteorological information service.
