As an important part of urban public transport system, mini-bus can be arranged to match rail, bus rapid transit station and passenger distribution site. It runs on the small streets, penetrated deeply into various residential areas and the functional areas, fills service blank that mass transit and regular bus left, pays attention to the travel quality of elderly and vulnerable groups, improves travel convenience and travel accessibility of the elderly, and provide an effective regional distribution service for rail stations, effectively extends the subway, bus rapid transit service and solves the problem of short-distance travel and interchange. Therefore, it is necessary to study the planning methods of the mini-bus system, provide scientific basis for the legitimately planning mini-bus.This paper firstly analyzes the concept of mini-bus, gives the definition of mini-bus, compares and analyzes the similarities and differences between mini-bus and regular bus and classifies mini-bus, then studies social and economic benefits, function orientation and development mode of mini-bus. On this basis, this paper discusses four demand groups, group travel purpose and group travel time, then analyzes the demand for mini-bus from two spatial dimensions of urban centers and suburban. Combine with operating data of Shanghai min-bus lines, the paper explores the main factors that affecting the passengers. By analyzing several commonly used forecasting methods and theories, demonstrating the applicability of Microeconomics Location Theory in mini-bus passenger flow forecast, the paper propose prediction method based on Microeconomics location theory-line punctuate model. The paper deeply analyzes the factors affecting the mini-bus lines and explores the interchange relationship between the mini-bus and rail transport and classifies them, establishes punctuate-line model of micro-level to optimize path and apply genetic algorithm, uses examples to verify the applicability of model and algorithm. Take the transfer of a mini-bus line and the rail of single access point for example to calculate the shortest waiting time. Finally, the paper analyzes site service area, station spacing, presents the main factors that affecting the selection of the site and make adjustments. To reduce the land demand of mini-bus feeder rail transportation facilities, the paper proposes a land estimation method of a originating mini-bus line.
