The rear end collision warning system is an important part of vehicle active safety system. In the car following process due to differences in driver safety awareness and quality, or because of driver have inaccurate judgment in motion between the vehicle and the car front. Often appear that the distance between the car and the car in front is not enough to ensure safe driving. In order to solve this problem, and potentially less traffic accidents, reduce the loss of life and property, the researchers developed a rear end collision warning system. By establishing warning rule, when the distance between the vehicle and the vehicle in front does not meet the warning condition, The system will alert the driver, or in a more urgent cases, intervention vehicle braking system, brake vehicles, to ensure traffic safety.But the domestic existing rear end collision warning system is mainly referring to foreign research results, the subjective factors of the driver is not considered in the formulation of warning rules. To our country present stage driver’s adaptability and practicability needs to be verified. In order to make a rear end collision warning system based on driver’s subjective factors, this paper carried out the following work:1. Through a large number of real vehicle test, to obtain the relative motion relationship between vehicle and the vehicle ahead in the limit moment when driver subjective judgment for following car. Through the data statistics and analysis, the formulation of rear end collision warning system based on the driver subjective factors’ warning rule.2. Through demand analysis of the system, to determine the use of laser rangefinder, GPS speed module, Freescale single chip and the buzzer as the main hardware of data acquisition, data processing and information feedback unit.3. With good portability of the C language as a system development program language, and according to the warning rules made, completes the software part of the program.4. Verified by real vehicle test conditions, prove the stability accurate, reliable and good of the rear end collision warning system based on driver’s subjective factors.
