With the rapid development of regional rural economy in Xinjiang, Farmers’ travel demand of driving motor vehicle is increasing. Since 2010, Xinjiang developed the rural road speedly, and the current coverage reached 93%; But the imperfect of intersection traffic facilities have led to many classes of traffic incidents and accidents. Due to the lack of power facilities in some remote areas rural roads, the electricity traffic signal control system can’t be used without electricity conditions, and solar traffic lights have some adaptability in the maintenance、emperature resistance and weather resistance. However, most of the rural areas in Xinjiang is rich in wind resources, it is very important to study a traffic signal machine of no using electricity、 low cost and convenient maintenance.The development of wind power traffic signal derives from air resource,without electrical protection. It’s principle is to collect wind, and convert wind to mechanical energy and storage, then display the red and green signal alternatively by driving controlled mechanical motion mechanism, thus complete the given right of way, to achieve the purpose of controlling traffic flow.Firstly, as a guide, the design of mechanical machine concentrated in building three-dimensional model of the wind power traffic signal mechanical motion mechanism with the assist of Solid Edge software, focusing on designing and researching energy storage device, drive device, steady speed device, a relative display device and wind cups phase device. At the same time, based on the traffic engineering theory, design its shape, giving prominence to standard style and appearance of the red and green signals to select the appropriate display materials.Then, use ADAMS software to show the output curve phase device and simulate assembly model movement mechanism, confirm the structure and principle of rationality.Finally, by checking the calculation of its further improvement and refinement to ensure that they have a longer life, analysing the stress of mechanical motion mechanism of wind power traffic signal. Using ANSYS software to assist on finite element analysis of the energy storage device used in flat spiral spring, to ensure it is not destroyed in the course of their work stress.The traffic signal machine based on the wind power in this paper has certain applicability in most of the rural roads in Xinjiang. It plays a positive and important role in improving the intersection traffic facilities、 reducing the number of traffic incidents and accidents、 Safeguarding the traffic safety.
