China is one of the countries with more frequent seismic activity in the world. Earthquake could cause huge losses and people are therefore increasingly concerned about it. In the mean time, with China’s rapid development in economy, buildings in urban areas are completed construction with growing heights. In this context, research on seismic isolation technology for a project, especially for those high-rise buildings structures with long natural vibration period, is of great significance.Through introductions to the research progress from both home and abroad and research on base seismic isolation for high-rise buildings structures, the latest research direction could be obtained and served as the advanced theoretical basis for seismic isolation of high-rise buildings structures in China.By setting an isolator, effective seismic isolation could be achieved. The author provides an introduction to the isolator’s basic working principle and its application in SAP2000, besides, a fast nonlinear analysis method and application for dynamic elastic-plastic analysis in SAP2000 are introduced as well to lay a theoretical basis for project analysis purpose.Based on the study for the structures of the earthquake resistance, especially for the theoretical research on seismic isolation of high-rise buildings structures, this paper has taken an example from a catering building project in northern China through selecting the relevant parameters and arranging isolator in a reasonable way to conduct multi-earthquake analysis for such structure, so as to make a comparison to the earthquake response between isolated structure and common structure. The result shows that the isolated structure has a more significant effect to earthquake isolation.With multi-earthquake analysis on isolated structure as the basis, a fast nonlinear analysis method can be adopted to conduct further earthquake isolation research to the structure under major earthquake occurrence, besides, structural inner-layer displacement response, inter-laminar shear and energy analysis under earthquake effect can be carried out, together with the isolator’s response under severe earthquake case. Through the above-mentioned studies, it can be concluded that this structure has a good isolation effect.With China’s rapid growth in its modernization construction, high-rise buildingss in China have been completed construction with increasing perfection. However, the isolation has also becoming a prominent problem for high-rise buildings structures. This paper hereby has an analysis of seismic isolation technology for high-rise buildings structures through logical isolator arrangement and other technical measures, aiming to achieve significant improvement on isolation and provide recommendations for similar projects.
