| Public space in Center district of the old city with the surrounding environment and the status of the contradictions whose slow or decline becomes a widespread phenomenon. People’s Park in Chongqing is the typical examples of this problem and its renewal plan and the Southern Song dynasty ruins excavations brings a new perspective of the integration of the area, which is the research background and the principal contradictions. The interaction between the public space and the city is a part of urban form and city life. The lack of linking to the city with public space is being most direct cause of the decline of the public space. So trying to solve this contradiction should be overall thinking and discussed with making the public space into the area.The paper consists of five chapters. The first chapter puts forward the problem, the second and the third one analyses the problems, the fourth one solves the problem, and, the fifth one prospects the development in the future.Chapter I: Introduction. The paper puts forward the core problems which should be solved. First of all, the public space and surroundings in old city center area have contradiction, how its happened, and how to solve. Secondly, put forward the research object--People’s Park in Chongqing as case study, and the public space in old city center. Third, find the entry point through literature review. Fourth, put forward the study method and framework.Chapter II: Appearance of Morphology Evolution of People’s Park. People’s Park(Central Park in old times)morphological evolution is divided into three periods: establishment period from 1920’ to 1940’,development period from 1940’-1990’ and decline period from 1990’ to now. The paper reproduce the morphology in all periods by the park and city’s plan in 1929, 1947, 1958, 1985, 2002, 2015, and analyzes from the city morphology, boundary shape and internal structure in order to found the law of the evolution including the size reduced, boundaries blurred, traffic function increased, functional composite decreased. learned the park’s evolution was close to the city’s development, through the process of change with the surrounding development to lag behind the mutual promotion of urban development. Finally conclusion that natural forces, government forces, people and market forces influencing the evolution of the impact factor of the People’s Park.Chapter III:The development opportunities and slow development of motivation of the park’s. First of all, based on the analysis in II and III chapters, offer the strategies. First of all, explain the reason that the integration theory can be used as the central area of the old city public space, then, presents the planning and design practice under the guidance of this theory about People’s Park, using Yuzhong District of new public space(system) as the comparative study to conclude it is integrating elements, strengthening regional concept to that can revive people’s Park completely. Secondly, in the guidance of the integration theory offers the strategies includingcultural integration, space integration, traffic integration and boundary integration.Chapter V: Conclusion and Prospect. First of all, the paper summarizes the main content; secondly, puts forward the deficiency that the case of the study is a promoting event so that the horizon and forecast have certain limitations; thirdly, put forward some thought and prospect for the future, hopes that paper can offer references for the construction of ruins park, the area development, the Under Half City’s transformation, provide the basis study on micro space for Chongqing historical cultural city protection planning, and support each other with planning of new town public space system. |
