Study On Yimianpo’s Modern Architecture And Urban Planning

Yimianpo is a third-class railway station of Chinese Eastern Railway, along with the construction and operation of the railway, it has become a quite characteristic modern town in the northeastern region of China. Compared with other towns which are in the same level, Yimianpo has a longer history, more developed economy, larger population and more profound culture, so that it is an important regional center city of Chinese Eastern Railway. Not only the typical characteristics of cities along Chinese Eastern Railway, but also its own distinct personality due to the conditions can be found in the development process and final urban morphology of Yimianpo, which makes it be of high research velue.This paper will analysis the characteristics of Yimianpo’s modern urban planning, landscape, architecture and culture characteristics. Firstly, rebuild its historical background based on historical data, then analyze the consideration on various factors like siting location, resources, address, etc, and make sure the functions of the city during its initial stage of construction, and make its development process and development situation in different periods clear. Survey the existing urban spatial structure and the layout of the historic buildings of Yimianpo. Combined with historical data, studying on the spatial structure planning, functional zoning, transportation network, green space system of Yimianpo in the early construction period of the Chinese Eastern Railway. Focus on its landscape structure that relying on its natural environment from the perspective of spatial structure and time series and emphasize on the analysis of its own characteristics. Secondly, make a full investigation on existing public, residential, commercial, industrial and other types of building s. Start from the layout of plane function, organization on traffic flow line, technique about space combination, etc, then analyze typical buildings and summarize layout rules and design techniques. From a technical point of view, explore the structure and mode of construction which had supported all kinds of architectural spaces and forms, and prinples of material selection and collocation. Finally, Interpret features of architectural art and regional culture of Yimianpo. In the respect of architectural pattern constitution, understand the architectural external morphology of buildings with different functions and materials based on its style classification, volume mode of combination, facade elements and decoration language. On the construction philosophy, reveal its harmonious natural environment concept, design approach that combined sensibility with rationality and operation mode under a law without formulary. By analysing buildings of the town, summarize its cultural representation, which include diversification, fusion, inheritance and flowing deformation. Triggered by the railway construction and urban economy, the population growed rapidly, and various cultures had been brought here by residents from different countries. These cultures coexisted here, and mutual influence happened in all aspects, from lifestyle to ideas, from the Industrial form to the social structure. The traditional and modern cultures, no matter they are local or introduced by foreigners, combined to be an unique art and cultural phenomenon, which has been reflected in the buildings. Although the social environment changes constantly, through the followed development, the town’s traditional elements are still inherit ed. Even been changed or combined with different characteristics of different times, Yimianpo’s architectural culture kept a good continuity.In a word, the paper starts from the existing modern architectures, deals with the origin and development of its modern architecture, analyses the space and form of the buildings and summarize the characteristics of their art and culture which are all based on their historical data, in order to provide a theoretical basis and preparation of materials for the research and protection of modern architecture culture.
