Nowadays, shortage of various resources has put great pressure on sustainable development of human beings. It is of much significance for us to focus on the issue of building energy conservation, as well as improving energy efficiency. As we all known, to exploit potentialities of rural areas will make great contribution. With the implementation of 12 th five-year plan, building energy saving in rural areas has attracted increasing attention ever since then.Urban residential building energy consumption statistics has been widely studied, whose influential factors were investigated and forecast model was established. Moreover, we can use energy calculation software to acquire relative accurate results of dynamic energy consumption. Statistical work of rural areas has been widely carried out, but adoption of static energy consumption approach is fairly questionable for its poor accuracy. So, how to select main parameters to set up dynamic models for buildings in rural areas, and combine results with measured data is a problem. In order to effectively promote energy-saving work in rural areas, we should make full use of experimental data and collect as much useful information as possible. In this paper, the concept of buildings of rural areas is defined firstly. The climate characteristics and natural conditions were discussed. For residents in rural areas in severely cold regions, how to keep warm is most important. According to the statistical results of field research, heating energy consumption occupies large proportion of total energy consumption, which also proves the conclusion before. Mixed commercial energy and non-commercial energy, combination of heating and cooking, different heating time span, varieties of heating equipment, utilization of new energy, and diversity of plane layout forms are the main characteristics of heating energy consumption of buildings in rural areas, and they are also the reasons of why it is much more difficult to analyze energy consumption in rural areas, compared with urban areas. The classification of rural house heating energy consumption factors was completed.Static energy consumption method and dynamic energy consumption method are introduced in detail. Static method assumes that energy consumption remains constant all the time, and it can’t describe dynamic building energy consumption process accurately, or determine the moment of maximum energy consumption. This kind of calculation idea will adversely influence the potential of rural residential building energy saving, so it is urgent to solve the problem by a dynamic energy consumption calculation method. This paper selects two demonstration buildings in Wuchang as the research objects. By testing the actual energy consumption, dynamic heating energy consumption and the average static energy consumption of the two building rural houses were obtained. And then use Ecotect, Energy Plus and De ST to model the partition of rural houses. Thermal environment, ambient light environment are analyzed for each building, and compare the simulation results with test results. In consideration of discrepancy between simulation and field study, potential reasons of various aspects are discussed.Since building energy consumption is affected by many factors, and some of them can be obtained by calculation. But there are a lot of variables could not be determined, whose impact on building energy consumption cannot be neglected. According to the traditional methodology, identifying all potential factors related to building heating energy consumption is an essential prerequisite, which is too difficult to achieve in reality. Besides, relying solely on the way to improve the precision of the instrument to improve the measuring precision is not the only feasible route. So, the concept of time response coefficient is proposed in this paper, i.e. the early effect and the hysteresis effect of the thermal response are considered. By converting the calculation of all uncertainties into the calculation of parameters of response factor, the analysis of dynamic model is simplified significantly. To obtain the energy consumption of rural residential building, we need to establish mathematical and physical model, solve the indoor air heat balance equation and heat transfer equation of the envelope. Approximate analytical solutions are derived using Laplace transformation, and half of the statistics are used for model calibration to adjust model parameters. Finally, test results of Wuchang rural residential buildings were used for model validation, which proves the accuracy of the proposed dynamic model. This new attempt can eliminate the accurate solution of uncertain factors, and hopefully it can be further improved in the future and lay foundation for the subsequent energy saving work for residential buildings in rural areas.
