With the development of both network operations and the integrated operational concepts and technologies, military operations emphasis increasingly on combats between systems and the effectiveness of systems. Weapon system of systems are a special class of systems. Compared with the single weapon equipment, weapon system of systems are large-scale, and have complex relationships, diverse tasks, uncertainties and other characteristics. Thus weapon system of systems’ operational effectiveness evaluation is a typical difficult problem of comprehensive assessments. This paper focuses on a study of this difficult problem.Firstly, the methods of weapon system of systems’ operational effectiveness integrated evaluation are given. There are three difficulties for weapon system of systems’ operational effectiveness evaluation, including large number of indexes, various of tasks and scenarios, this paper gives the evaluation method including improved principal component analysis, improved radar chart and sort assessment method based on technique for order preference by similarity to ideal solution and grey relational analysis, to make the system of systems’ operational effectiveness evaluation results more reasonable and comprehensive.Secondly, the key technologies to achieve the processes of the weapon system of systems’ operational effectiveness evaluation auxiliary tool are studied. First of all, build operational effectiveness evaluation process models, modular the auxiliary tool, use the single-case model to design structure, to make this tool reusable. Then, use information management technology to build different data tables in different phases, so as to achieve classification management and reusability of data. Finally, use plug-in technology to implement extended tools.Thirdly, the weapon system of systems’ operational effectiveness evaluation auxiliary tool is designed and implemented, and applied to the specific system of systems’ assessments. Firstly, design the hierarchical structure of t he tool, and then use the key technologies to achieve functions of each module, and finally apply to the instance for validation.Finally, conclusions and future research directions are given.
