Modern Adobe has high ecological price and higher regional adaptability, has been one of the world, especially the developed countries, research institutions and government attention and support. However, domestic for modern Adobe late start of the study has shown the lack of related system research; in view of the fact that in recent years, Xi’an University of architecture and technology carried out a large number of modern rammed earth practice and achieved certain results, the national housing construction department intends to work in the construction of Yanta Road Campus of the University of modern adobe building laboratory, aimed at meeting should involve a multidisciplinary team to carry out a series of basic research, the entity set up test, technical training, the results show, international exchanges, and professional teaching.Laboratory planning and construction of large experimentation area and office research area two parts. This project belongs to one of the office research area, the construction area is about 300 square meters.. For the members of the laboratory design provides office space, and some degree of modern rammed earth materials and container with demonstration.Based on the design of "modern earth laboratory" studio as the research object, research target:1 "modern adobeconstruction laboratory" studio research design process.2 based on the research project of design of ecological architecture and applicationpotential of rammed earth wall of the container.3 an overview of architectural design methods when the construction materials occur in the project conditions.Firstly the project conditions, demand and related cases were classified and research summary, summed up the design strategy is to: use of existing modern rammed earth technology and site waste container, under the precondition of satisfying the modern rammed earth needs, make full use of the container skeleton structure, with rammed earth wall for retaining structure, also according to the chimney effect is designed. Secondly, this paper to economical and practical, energy-saving and comfortable, simple construction, the design principle as the ruler, through comparing and analyzing the design method of a variety of possibilities propulsive process of architectural design, design scheme. Scheme included in space as the center of the preliminary design, structure design, structure node especially rammed earth wall and container respectively and the node design of other materials and equipment design of several parts. Finally, this paper describes the building of the thermal comfort assessment, energy assessment, economic assessment, assessment summary and reflection of the detailed.After the completion of the program of the assessment found that the program use container and rammed earth materials, was higher than that of the same space brick building in the thermal performance and contains the running energy consumption and energy consumption aspects; use the chimney effect can effectively reduce the heat of summer, cold load. In the economic utility, energy saving comfortable, construction simple three principle of reflection, the design process still exist need to improve the place. In the end, this paper summarizes the design process and how to use the construction materials for building design, for reference.
