National Park System is one of the best pattern to solve the contradiction between exploitation and conservation. The protection of ecological integrity, coupled with appropriate development, it can provide a spiritual, educational, scientifical, and recreational site for the public. Begin with the first National Park in the United States-Yellowstone National Park, and through hundred years of research and evolution, it has become a world-wide movement to conserve the natural heritage, with lots of ideas and forms of conservation, which suited the modern society perfectly. National Park Trail System, is the traffic line in the National Park, also a crucial part of the construction, it not only can minimize the human impact, but also can lead tourists to a better experience to enjoy the scenery, learn from the nature and recreation.There are 9 kinds of protection system of nature heritage in our country, due to the decentralization in management by different apartment, it brings chaotic status in management and operation, conservation, and confused the limit between conservation and exploitation. While scholars and government had come to realize the seriousness of the problem, and point out that China should build National Park System of its own, and fortunately, the system is perfectly suited with China’s conditions. Taiwan as one of the earliest regions that built National Park System in our country, have reached the international level in developing National Parks, and we can see values of study and research in design and development.This essay start with the analysis of the definition, classification, function, and impact of National Park and trail system, also discuss the current situations of trail systems in Yangming National Park. Then deduced the design impact of trail classify system inYangming National Park, based on the definition factors like Hierarchy of Needs, Recreation Opportunity Spectrum and Recreational Carrying Capacity, and analyzed all the different classifications through Resource Based, User Oriented and Management Oriented. Takes the framework of trail classify system, this essay studied the main design elements in Yangming National Park Trail System, such as route, form, quantification, materials, accessibility facilities and self-guided system, also represented the deficiencies of Yangming National Park Trail System based on investigations, data and related researches. In the Last section, in the context of developing National Park System in China, this essay analyzed the enlightenments of Yangming National Park Trail System for our country based upon the comparison between mainland and Taiwan in natural heritage area management system, stated the principles that trail design should follow, and related suggestions for China‘s trail design.In the context of developing ecological civilization, protecting ecological safety and building National Park System, it’s necessary to the related study.
