Smart grid arises with the climate warming and the shortage of resources. The real-time, efficient and reliable power grid management system as an important part of the smart grid, can achieve good interaction between generation, distribution and electricity and can improve energy utilization and reduce power accidents. But now there is no uniform standard for the smart grid nodes management. The network management protocols are different in power modules, which leads to network interfaces unitary and difficulty in secondary development of management software system. This kind of situation effects the unified management.To solve this problem, this thesis presents a solution by using SNMP(Simple Network Management Protocol) to manager network nodes and design a prototype of a node terminal. The terminal can collect temperature voltage and current of grid nodes. At last, a complete management system is formed by using management software.This thesis analyzed the current research of smart grid node management, summing up the nodes that had no unified management standards, power distribution and electricity aspects of network management protocol was not uniform. The research used for SNMP that has matured use and powerful features is recognized worldwide as a standard network management protocol. IP-based network architecture could be managed using SNMP. In order to monitor the nodes temperature, voltage and current message, this article defined the relevant MIB respectively.The design and management of the smart grid nodes based on SNMP mainly consists of data acquisition terminal and network management agent composition. The data acquisition terminal designed by using LM3S8962 chip which is the control chip. The grid node temperature, voltage and current can be got through A/D and the serial port. In software design, the SNMP task, temperature collection and detection and serial communication function realized through multitasking management modules in uc/os-II operating system. Finally a complete management system is formed using SNMPc7.2 management software to monitor and manager the nodes. At last, the feasibility of the system is verified through testing the data flow of the SNMP Agent.
