As the proportion of automobile industry in people’s work and life has been increasing year by year, vehicle intelligent terminal market ushered in the great development prospect. In order to serve the drivers better, each automobile and electronics manufacturers are trying to inject more and more functions and elements to the vehicle intelligent terminal. By this way, the vehicle intelligent terminal can constantly adapt to the complex traffic environment and people’s demand for driving. Because of this tendency, a vehicle intelligent terminal which includes car bus communication, electronic map navigation, vehicle positioning and network data transmission functions is designed in this paper. Specific working contents are summarized as follows:(1) Based on the function demand of vehicle intelligent terminal, combined with the interface of each module, Tiny210 ARM development board is chosen as the embedded platform and Windows CE6.0 embedded system is carried for navigation software development. By using the peripheral expansion of CAN bus interface module, Beidou/GPS dual-mode positioning module, network transmission module, auto data acquisition and transmission is realized.(2) In order to carry out the bus data communication, CAN bus interface module is designed in this paper. In this module, AVR MCU ATmega16 controls CAN bus controller MCP2515 to receive and process bus messages. These data are finally sent to the ARM core board via a serial port. In order to display the received bus data, an embedded analytical procedure is designed in this paper.(3) Based on the integrated development technology for GIS, the grid division is adopted to cut the vector map data which are in Shapefile format. Then the relevant layer class is designed to load and manage map data. On this basis, the following three kinds of map functions are developed in this paper: By creating network topology table, the procedure can access topological relations between each nodes in the roads, then three path search algorithms are used to realize the shortest path planning function; To realize place searching and map location, location searching function is designed; In line with the consequence of path planning, combined with own location data, the path guiding function is designed to provide users turning promote information at an intersection.(4) According to the characteristics of output data which are provided by the Beidou/GPS dual-model receiver, positioning data analysis program is designed. This program can display location results on the on-board electronic map. Meanwhile, based on the UDP socket programming, a network communication program is also designed to transmit and display the location data. By using this program, users can monitor the vehicle location on the remote computer.
