Since the urbanization in china is accelerating. There exists a critical issue in many areas, is the current buildings can not meet the economic development demand. However, some of them did not service an enough time and their use value still exists, if we remove and rebuild those existing buildings would cause a huge waste in man, material and financial resources. Furthermore the huge number construction rubbish would pose a tremendous threaten to our environment. Therefore reform existing buildings and make their using function meet the newly requirements would be an available method in old downtown construction project.Based on a real high-rise building reforming construction project, this paper using finite element analysis software Midas Building simulate the whole reforming process. Combined with the Code for seismic design of buildings and Code for design of building foundation, this paper presents the seismic performance and foundation changing of this reforming building. And based on the monitoring data during the reforming construction, we can get a conclusion that building reforming method is available and safety. The finite element analysis of the reforming building method in this paper might not simply provide date or results in construction and design but also offer a referable analysis way in following building reforming construction.The paper consists of the following parts:①After some simplify methods in this reforming building structure, a realistic three-dimension finite element simulation model is established. And the reforming building’s seismic performance in 6-degree earthquake is given based on the code for seismic design of buildings.②According to the geological survey data provided by the construction company, this paper established a foundation model of this reforming building, completed the import of upper structure. And analysis the building’s foundation settlement changing information before and after reforming. It is shown that the reform and reinforcement scheme greatly improve the stability of the reforming building’s foundation. Reforming construction design is approvable.③Based on the monitoring data during the reforming construction, this paper given an objective evaluation for this building reforming construction.As a result, built a realistic three-dimension finite element simulation model by Midas building software to simulate the building reforming design may reflect the building’s seismic performance and foundation changing objectively. And thus method could also provide reference data and conclusion for the real construction and design.
