The advent of industrial society has changed the face of human society profoundly and brought the rich material and wealth for us. Unfortunately, with the enjoyment of wealth, our environment is suffering unprecedented destruction. The whole society is in the unsustainable edge, the population, resource problem and pollution is seriously restricting the economic development and the harmony of our society. At present, only by adhering to the concept of sustainable development, in-depth analyzing and studying the ideas and strategy of the sustainable design, continuous mode innovation and technological innovation can ensure the healthy development of human society. It is in this context, we set off a wave of service economy advocating the service substitution for the material and using service innovation action and business model to improve the customers` satisfaction bringing better environmental performance. The Advantages and development potential of the service economy is far more than the traditional product economy model, it supports and promotes the service transformation realizing the inevitable choice and effective way of manufacturing industry transformation and upgrading of industry model in China.The design and construction of product service system(hereinafter referred to as PSS) is an effective and sustainable design strategy, which can realize the product reduction under certain conditions, reducing the impact on the environment and utilizing the characteristics of service and receiving higher customer satisfaction. This paper taking PSS as the core design, studies the following contents:1. Propose the model of type selecting of PSS. Through the analysis and research of domestic and foreign related cases, discussing the relationship between product life cycle and PSS design, extracting the relevant elements of the life cycle stages and summarizing the PSS type choice on the basis of summing up, finally constructs the type choice model of PSS based on factor analysis of each stage of life cycle;2.Propose the design flow of PSS. On the base of type selection model of PSS the author deeply studied service design including the strategy, method, tool and process. It integrates and combines the system structure of PSS combining with the application of life cycle theory in PSS and putting forward PSS concept design process guiding the existing product system transition to PSS;3.With the Canon digital SLR camera rental service concept design as a case, the author designed a service system map, a service blueprint and some related user interfaces, finally using the customer satisfaction questionnaire to evaluate the design results verifying the feasibility and the authenticity of the conclusion.
