Bridge occupied a key position in highway and railway engineering as an transport hub project. With the widespread construction of reinforced concrete bridge, its function is affected by material performance, load stress and environmental factors, which means the structure stability might decreases gradually. And when it is below the limit value the bridge collapsed. Therefore, the research of bridge structure reliability is one of the world-wide concerned problems in the field of structure engineering.Based on the research home and abroad on bridge reliability, the paper shows the definition of the service life and reliability of the bridge. It also outlines several methods to calculate the reliability of both new-built and on-service RC bridge by the Monte Carlo method. Detailed information are as follows:1. We analyzed the process of the concrete carbonation and rebar corrosion of the in-service RC bridge in the effect of the environment. Also we studied the concrete compressive strength, elastic modulus and strength of reinforced concrete time-varying resistance model. Then we analyzed the different vehicle load values and position of transverse and longitudinal distribution effect on the bridge in different specifications. All of these guaranteed the veracity of the analysis on the time-varying reliability of existing RC bridge.2. We introduced the PDS analysis module of ANSYS and took the reinforced concrete beam as an example to analyze the different deflection in different load deflection values. It verified the accuracy of the ANSYS finite element simulation and the feasibility of ANSYS to analysis the reliability of RC beam.3. Based on the background of a in-service RC Bridge engineering, we got the basic status such as T beam reinforcement corrosion, concrete carbonation and concrete compressive strength by nondestructive testing. We also analyzed the time-varying reliability based on the random variables such as T beam, compressive strength of concrete, concrete elastic modulus, cross-sectional area and tensile strength. Then we could get the reliability of the bridge in different time periods, and predict the service life of the bridge and the residual life by above analysis.
