It is a problem that how to combine advanced technology with construction quality process control to make sure that the design intent is consistented in road construction process and ensure the uniformity and stability of the construction quality. In this paper, launched study of construction process of asphalt pavement included as following aspects:⑴Using the asphalt mixing floor data collection system to collect the data in the asphalt production process. The parameters which impact asphalt production quality were compared,finally asphalt consumption, mix proportion and mixing temperature were selected as the key parameters of the asphalt pavement quality process control. The data of variability was been studied to provide new ideas for further study on quality control technique.⑵The feasibility of using MATLAB image processing technology to extract the gradation of the asphalt mixing plant hot material storehouse was analyzed. Through indoor experiment, the dynamic aggregate images were obtained. By using image processing technology such an image enhancement, segmentation, analysis to preprocessing these images, finally satisfactory results of aggregate gradation which was compared with actual gradation value were obtained. Based on the image processing technology with MATLAB, the program which was used to extract the gradation of the asphalt mixing plant hot material storehouse had been designed.⑶Speed adjustment device, torque sensors, current transformers, recorders and other external devices were installed to the cement mortar mixer commonly used in the laboratory. These made urrent, torque, power, and speed data online monitoring possible. Through the study of current characteristics in asphalt mixing process, the optimum asphalt mixing temperature and mixing time were determined. Bingham model of cement mortar was established based on the rheological properties. The method of determining the asphalt compaction temperature by using the relationship between the rheological properties and temperature was proposed.⑷ The correlations between vibration acceleration values and the road roller compaction, rolling times and temperature were analyzed through installing vibration acceleration sensors and infrared temperature sensors on vibratory roller. Method of evaluating compaction by using the acceleration value was found, which lay a solid foundation for the real-time control of compaction quality. A roller GPS positioning equipment was developed. Roller compacted real-time monitoring system was designed by combining vibration acceleration transducers with infrared radiation thermometers.This maed real-time monitoring of rolling trajectory,rolling frequency,compaction degree and compaction temperatures possible, effectively ensuring the quality of asphalt pavement compaction.The studies are relied on engineering practice in Suomeng and Xingheng highway contract sections.Using the subjects such as computer technology, information engineering, statistical and so on in asphalt pavement construction quality is innovative. The research achievements have some innovativeness.Test methods and theoretical basis for asphalt pavement quality online monitoring in road projects can be provided.
