As an important part of the three-phase magnetic latching relay, the electromagnetic system whose static characteristic and the design of its structure can directly affect the performance of the whole system. In this paper, the finite-element analysis method was proposed to simulate and optimize the electromagnetic system in a three-phase magnetic latching relay which was taken as the research object.First of all, the three-dimensional model of the electromagnetic system was established in ANSYS. And the models under different positions, currents, magnetization curves, values of the chamfer radius of yokes and air gaps were simulated and analyzed to get the values of magnetic torques, magnetic flux linkages, the distributions graphs of magnetic field and the characteristic curves of the three-phase magnetic latching relay. Then the reasons and effects of the structure size of lectromagnetic system on its static characteristics were analyzed.Secondly, the Microsoft Foundation Classes(MFC) provided by Microsoft in Visual C++ was utilized to develop an object-oriented Windows application program which was used to call the ANSYS software in the background, as well as to package the APDL command statements. The function could be easily achieved that some parameters were just needed to be entered in the interactive interface, then the results of the simulation could be showed and saved by the program. It was convenient for people to work with it.Finally, under the defined conditions, the orthogonal optimization experiment was used to get the best design indexes of the electromagnetic system.
